Bloxham Church of England Primary School is set to receive a major upgrade with a nearly £2.8 million renovation and improvement initiative, funded by Oxfordshire County Council. This exciting development awaits final approval from Councillor Dan Levy, the council’s finance cabinet member.
The school has progressively grown over the years, expanding in phases to meet the increasing demand for student places.
The upcoming project aims to construct a new school hall equipped with storage, transform the current hall into a multi-functional teaching space, and refurbish an existing building to accommodate a kitchen.
Councillor John Howson, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Young People’s Services, shared his perspective on the plans: “These are exciting plans for Bloxham Church of England Primary School, reflecting our commitment to provide a top class learning and teaching environment for Oxfordshire’s children. My cabinet colleagues will discuss these plans at the 19 December meeting and a decision will be taken then.”
The proposed new hall is designed to be located at the school’s entrance, made of red brick to complement the existing structure.
Improvements to the school’s forecourt and parking area are also part of the plan, including the addition of a disabled parking space.
Granted planning permission in April 2023, the project, subject to cabinet approval, is slated to begin in early 2024 and is expected to take about a year to complete.
